Carpet Steam Cleaning Calgary

Posted by Allan in Oct, 2014

One of the most common professional carpet cleaning techniques is called as steam cleaning of carpets. It is also known as the hot water extraction method. It is used as a part of every carpet cleaner’s cleaning regimen because of the benefits provided by this simple cleaning technique such as removal of embedded dirt, soil and other loosely present contaminants. The beauty of this cleaning technique is that the equipment required for it ranges from heavy trucks to simple and easy to use portable cleaners, making it as equally suited for homeowners as it is for businesses and professional cleaners.

HOW DOES THE METHOD WORK(DO IT YOURSELF CARPET STEAM CLEANING)?

Buying A Steam Cleaner
The first important distinction to keep in mind is that carpet steamers aren’t the same as vacuums. If you aren’t hiring a professional carpet cleaner and intend to get your hands dirty in the cleaning process you will first of all need to buy a steam cleaner. Spend some time on the internet and research a couple of steam cleaners. Look at the portability, water removal, soil removal, drying, etc. capabilities of the steam cleaner. You should try to look for something that while removing water will remove the maximum amount of soil and grime, dirt from it.

Choosing the Right Time Of The Day for Steam Cleaning
Obviously, we want the carpet to dry as quickly as it can without hindering the flow of daily activities, ie, we don’t want to start treading on the carpet as soon as we have finished steaming it since we will simply end up re-soiling it. Therefore, it is important to choose a time of the day that is comfortable for most and will result in minimum walking activity on the carpet before it has had a chance to dry up completely. Also, try and choose a day that is not very humid.

Removal of Obstacles
Get as much of your furniture as you can out of the way. Remove toys, cartoons, tables, whatever is not fixed to the floor from the room which is being cleaned and put them somewhere else. For furniture that you cannot move, slide squares of water and heat resistant material under the legs of the furniture to avoid them from absorbing moisture and getting damaged in the process.

Selection of Cleaning Solution
Detergent solutions with high pH values are not preferred as they are uncomplimentary to the fibres of the carpet. Once you have selected the solution, you are ready to set up and get going.

Setting Up The Device
Fill hot water into the steam cleaner’s water cleaning. Add as much cleaning solution as needed.

Cleaning The Carpet
Most carpet cleaners are designed to lay down water when you are pushing the machine forward and extract water when pulling it back towards you. Start cleaning, that is, moving over the carpet from the opposite side of where the door is so that you don’t have to walk over the carpet while cleaning. Go over the carpet several times to extract as much of cleaning solution as possible. It is important to be slow while doing the extraction as otherwise, water will remain in the carpet and breed mould, mildew, etc.

Rinsing Out The Cleaning Solution
It is very important to remove all of the solutions from the carpet as otherwise, it will cause other dirt, new grime to get attracted to the carpet. After having taken so much pain to clean out your carpet, you obviously don’t want to get unnecessary contaminants on it. So please use plain water to rinse out any carpet residue.

Drying The Carpet
Turn on the AC. Leave the fans open. Let your carpet dry out fully before you start reusing it.
